KARACHI (September 12 2008): The Karachi cotton market witnessed thin trading activity on Thursday while the spot rate declined, traders said.

The leading buyers remained on the sidelines due to quality reason and weak ginners offloaded their backlog on competitive prices before fortnight cotton arrival report, they said. The spot rate at KCA moved down to Rs 4,025 per maund with a decrease of Rs 75 per maund, Ghulam Rabbani, a senior trader at Karachi Cotton Association said.

Farmers urged to use new agriculture technology to boost yield

MIAN CHANNU (October 30 2008): Farmers can increase agricultural production by using suitable amounts of fertiliser, appropriate seeds, proper watering and weeding, and timely harvesting. This was observed by the Chairman of Pakistan Farmers' Forum, Farhatullah Khan, while addressing a gathering of farmers at Kot Barkat Ali near here.

Government to irrigate 130,000 acres of land through DIT

LAHORE (October 30 2008): Punjab Agriculture Minister, Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh said that Government would facilitate irrigation of 1, 30,000 acres of land in the province through Drip Irrigation Technology (DIT), which would increase the crop yield while minimising the water usage.
